Richard Swifton

Richard Swifton is the CEO and one of the main founding partners of GC in the UK and in Canada. Before founding GC in 1994, Richard worked as a stock analyst and stock promoter in New York (U.S.A) and London (U.K). As Chief Executive Officer for GC, Richard is responsible for managing and building a $500 million private equity portfolio.

He has brought his experience in strategic planning, change management and operations improvement to senior level positions, where he has developed a thorough understanding of venture capital fundamentals and practices, and to companies that are in high-growth or rapid-change industries.

Under Richard’s leadership, GC is building a portfolio that focuses on investments that are based on working partnerships, providing value through our existing networks to help shape and manage long-term strategic direction and profitability.

Richard holds an MBA from the University of Liverpool (U.K.) and is a member of the Toronto Board of Trade.

Edward Peman
CFO

A member of the Executive Team since 1998 Edward’s background in public accounting has provided him with a solid foundation in all aspects of business finance. Working previously with Banco Santander Spain he was involved in all aspects of receivership and bankruptcy, as well as working in their audit practice providing business and assurance services for companies in varied industries and stages of growth.

Edward has been busy implementing the new Sarbanes Oxley compliance regulations into GC’s operating policies and has been working closely with our client’s in developing their own with the aid of our investment risk management team which is headed by Alejandro (Alex) Garcia.

Edward holds both an undergraduate degree from the University of Madrid (Spain) and an MBA from ESADE Business School (Spain).

Alphonse Fleming
VP Mergers & Acquisitions

Also a founding member of GC Alphonse Fleming is a results-oriented, entrepreneurial leader with a proven record of success in start-up, turnaround and growth situations. His major strengths include strategic planning, implementation and development of small and mid-sized companies.

As a member of the Executive Team Alphonse provides specific expertise in corporate planning, reorganization, financing, structuring for new and ongoing businesses, asset and share purchases, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and advanced income-tax ruling requests. Alphonse has been integrally involved in the growth of GC’s platform companies, leading or co-leading follow-on acquisitions and arranging both private and public debt and equity financings.

Alphonse brings over 20 years of financial expertise during which he worked closely with GC co-founder Richard Swifton as a stock analyst and stock promoter in New York (U.S.A) and London (U.K).

Alphonse holds an EMBA from INSEAD Business School (France) and is a member of the Toronto Board of Trade and serves on the boards of several community and professional associations.

Dean Graham
VP Corporate Development

The newest addition to our Executive Team, Dean joined GC in 2005. Dean has several years of experience as an independent consultant and stock promoter for Dean Whitten & Associates, providing assurance, consulting, and business services to investment dealers, banks and real estate companies.

Currently Dean has been tasked with pursuing avenues to new industries never before serviced by GC. His experience in a variety of diverse fields has provided a unique insight into how GC should redirect its future acquisition projects.

Dean holds an MA in political economy from the London School of Economics (UK) and serves on the boards of several community and professional associations.

Alejandro (Alex) Garcia
Investment Risk Manager

Although not a member of the Executive Team, Alex is the middle management team leader where he is primarily responsible for the ongoing monitoring of GC platform portfolio companies' performance. Alex also provides support to the investment process through research and scrutiny of financial information and acts as the liaison between the clients that make up our private equity portfolio and Gibraltar Consolidated’s Executive Team where he reports directly to Alphonse Fleming.

Alex has specialized as a credit risk analyst at GC since 1995 and is responsible for researching and evaluating potential investments, performing due diligence activities and monitoring and managing the existing lending portfolio. Prior to working at GC Alex began his career in credit risk analysis at National Trust Mortgage Co. and Central Guaranty Trust Company.

Alex has a BA from the University of Toronto and is currently pursuing an MA at the Royal Military College of Canada. He is also a member of the Toronto Board of Trade, the Credit Institute of Canada and an associate member the Society of Chartered Financial Analysts of Toronto.
